Hey there zebras. I called you all zebras since as I was typing this, I was wearing a zebra printed vest. A SEQUIN ZEBRA PRINTED VEST, THAT IS. Zebra glam, you know how it is. Unfortunately, I'm not here to inform you of African animals and how enchanting they'd look once doused with sparkles and sequins. And sadly, I can't even refer you to Animal Planet for that. So, looks like you're stuck hearing about the next best thing.
Anyway, back to life, back to reality. This heat wave we've come to know as summer is rather intense lately and has left me feeling not only dehydrated and frizzy haired, but also a bit nostalgic for fall. Or at least the end of August. Which leads to today's post on a creative take on layering- skirts/dresses over pants. When I first heard about this trend I automatically associated it with punk girls from the 90's with micro mini plaid skirts over way too big, ripped flare jeans. Or Ellen Page as Juno. Ew. But thanks to style.com, I was pleased to find a few looks hot off the runway that took this generally hideous trend and turned it into something incredibly chic. I'm still a bit hesitant about trying the trend- I feel like in order to successfully pull it off, you have to be a giraffe in human form (cue more Jeffrey Campbell platformsbecause of the excess layering , but I'm already finding some pieces that might make it work.
So darlings, please do tell me, how do you feel about dresses/skirts over pants- does the thought wearing such an ensemble make you cringe inside or jump uncontrollably for joy? Would you follow this trend? But please, before you make a decision, check out a few of my favorites.

Look by Antonio Marras.

I like this look for quite a few reasons- the lace inset on the dress gives a sexy, peekaboo look- at-me effect, the uneven hemline of the skirt, and the flat sandals. Simple, sensual, well done, Antonio Marras.
Look by Dries Van Noten.

This look by Dries Van Noten is angelic. The light, flowy, transparency of the dress is perfect and goes so well with the pant color. Quintessential for a night picnic on the beach or weekend vacation.

Look by Fendi.

Fendi really shows us perfection with this look. From the simple accessorizing to the brightly colored shoes (
for that pop of color we're always looking for), this look is effortlessly chic.
Look by Acne.

This look by Acne has to be my absolute favorite. No exaggeration. For I cannot tell a lie. Especially about fashion. Is it the nerdy chic glasses? The yellow jacket? The cool, messy but not quite bun? Dude. This look right here is what caught my eye and made me think, "I'D TOTALLY WEAR THAT". So, congrats to those designers & stylists over at Acne, you've officially stolen my heart with this look.

Stay tuned zerbas, giraffes, ladies, and gents I plan to do a Polyvore post sharing my take on this horrid turned chic trend.
Kissies!
